About Us

Alan Elam, Sr.

Alan started National Tax Services in 2005 after recognizing a need to help his high net worth clients with tax solutions. He was able to reach back to his experience in the US Navy - Submarine Service where he observed how each individual operated collectively to achieve a common mission. He built on these lessons after his Honorable Discharge by earning his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at University of North Carolina - Charlotte. From there he moved to operate and build small businesses ranging from graphic design to insurance sales. He felt a need to give back to the community and began teaching entrepreneurship courses over 15 years, coaching numerous small business owners through the starting phases of establishing new businesses. From here he moved to also help set up nonprofits, starting with National Medical Foundation, as he saw senior citizens were lacking the information necessary to make informed decisions as they moved onto Medicare and into retirement. He was able to use the lessons learned from establishing his own nonprofit to help others establish their own nonprofits. Finally, he felt it was time to reach back to his roots and helped to set up Support Our Vets, a nonprofit focused on assisting other veteran organizations by conducting fundraisers and raising awareness through social events. He still sits on the board of a variety of nonprofits along with managing National Tax Services.

Those early observations from the Navy still drive the mission at National Tax Services for those High Net Worth clients and small business owners. It is ultimately critical that each component of an individual's financial plan worked together harmoniously, just as the seamen on a submarine do.

Alan Elam, Jr.

While new to the National Tax Services team, Alan brings a strong business background. He started by earning his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at Appalachian State University. While there, he found a passion for pre-hospital medicine, working on the local rescue squad and ski patrol. Moving back home, he further pursued medicine and worked as a Paramedic for 16 years, working his way up to a supervisory position. He also worked as a paramedic embedded on special teams within the police department. From here he saw a need to help provide training and support to others operating in tactical environments and helped start a business geared to fill that gap. He began to pursue other passions and develop them into businesses ranging from machining to programming. Alan is also able to bring his lessons learned in his small business endeavors to the clientele at National Tax Services. Primarily his key lesson that success in business depends on a solid financial plan and dedication to the mission. Alan is now excited about the next step in his career path to follow in his father's footsteps, delivering financial planning and help support other small businesses as they grow.
